Accommodation

Finding suitable accommodation in Cardiff will be an important concern when planning your postgraduate study with us, and we advise that you make arrangements for your accommodation prior to arriving at Cardiff to commence your postgraduate studies.

This section provides a comprehensive overview of the available options for postgraduates in Cardiff and should help you in your accommodation search.

For UK Postgraduates

 

  • Most UK postgraduate students stay in some form of privately-owned accommodation. There are a number of private halls of residence in Cardiff, and there is a wealth of private accommodation available for rental in the city. 
  • The Postgraduate Recruitment Office also organises a House Hunting Event each year for all new postgraduate students (primarily from the UK) looking for rented accommodation in the private sector. The 2011 event will be from Wednesday17th - Friday 19th August 2011. If you are interested in shared rented accommodation and have accepted your offer of a place to study at Cardiff University, you can book your place now.

For EU and International Postgraduates

 

All overseas/EU postgraduates are guaranteed a single occupancy place in University residences. Once you have been offered a place to study at Cardiff University, you will automatically be sent a Residences Guide (note: International applicants will be sent an email directing you to an electronic version of the guide. If you do not receive this then you should contact the Postgraduate Recruitment Office (EU applicants) or the International Office (Non-EU International applicants).

Visiting Cardiff to arrange accommodation

 

For private accommodation, you should arrange to visit Cardiff before the start of term so that you can see the accommodation for yourself.

 

If you do visit Cardiff to view accommodation you can take advantage of low-cost accommodation in University halls, provided your visit is outside term-time and you make arrangements in advance. Visit the University Summer Residences webpages for more information.
