There are many things to consider when choosing to undertake a postgraduate degree ranging from what type of course to pursue, to funding and where you are going to live. Our general talks will provide guidance on some of the key issues and will last approximately 30 minutes.

Postgraduate Funding Talk

  • Funding postgraduate study can be a daunting prospect. In this talk we’ll tell you more about the different studentships and scholarships that you might be eligible to apply for as well as discussing funding options in more general terms - including an introduction to the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding.

Accommodation for Postgraduates

  • This session is led by current postgraduate students who will share their insight into the neighbourhoods of Cardiff and tell you how you can benefit from our popular House Hunting event. You will also be able to get information about the various support available at the University to help you secure suitable accommodation.

Applying for a Postgraduate Degree at Cardiff

  • Our Admissions staff will give you a practical demonstration of our online application form and guide you through the process of applying for postgraduate study at Cardiff.
    For advice on writing a research proposal, please speak to staff on the stands in the Subject Fair.

Life as a Postgraduate at Cardiff

  • Cardiff is a thriving capital and was recently ranked the UK’s best city for young adults. This talk, led by elected officers from our Students' Union, gives you the lowdown on what the city has to offer as well as the Student Services available to you as a postgraduate. This is an ideal chance to ask questions and find out what it's like to be a postgraduate at one of the UK's most popular universities.

The Graduate Centre

  • Cardiff University is among the few universities in Britain to offer a dedicated facility that is solely for its postgraduate students. Come and find out more about the Graduate Centre and what it has to offer. This talk will be followed by a short tour of the facilities.

  • Have you finished your undergraduate degree and don’t know what to do next? Come along to this talk and find out about the different types of Masters programmes available at Cardiff University, how much they cost and how to apply.

  • Are you interested in pursuing a Research degree but don’t know if a PhD is the right choice for you? Come along to this talk and find out what is involved in a research degree and more importantly what is required in order to be accepted. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that not all PhDs require a Masters qualification and that we also offer various funded opportunities at Cardiff.

The 2013 annual Postgraduate Open Day has taken place on Wednesday 27th November 2013. The next Postgraduate Open Day is scheduled to take place in November 2014
