The school is home to a thriving cohort of postgraduate research students.
There is stiff competition for the schools postgraduate research programme, as a result places are only offered to highly skilled and motivated candidates who propose research of genuine importance that aims to advance current knowledge within the specialised research fields of the school.
It is this environment that typically forty five to fifty students (both full and part-time) carry out their research with world-leading scholars, practitioners and academics providing tuition and support.
Examples of the research titles being carried-out include ‘maternal mortality and Agenda setting’. ‘Reporting of cloning on the "Today" programme', Discourse and European Identity', 'Libyan Foreign Policy and Media Representation', 'The role of the media in peacebuilding in post-conflict societies with special reference to Africa' and 'Apocalyptic narrative in British culture'.
Recently completed thesis include ‘The Thinking Fan’s Rock Band: R.E.M. fandom and negotiations of normativity in Murmurs.com’ and 'Anthropophagy: Graphic Representations of Power'.
