Make a new year’s resolution without spending a penny

If your new year’s resolution is to learn something new in 2008, Cardiff University is providing a perfect way to make that resolution last way past the end of January.

Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning is offering adult learners the chance to experience something new every month between January and May 2008, all without parting with a penny.

So if you’ve ever wondered what the science behind sex is, what life at the court of the Norman and Angenvin kings was like, or are interested in debating the philosophical question of whether we can justifiably tell a lie, make sure to sign up to the free seminar History and Archaeology, and Free Humanities series, starting in January 2008.

Many more fascinating and diverse topics from contemporary society and history will be covered including a literary and historical look at the Italian immigrants in South Wales during the 20th century, and the chance to delve into the community archaeology project at Cosmeston Medieval Village.

All lectures will be delivered by leading academics at the forefront of their subjects; both series offer a chance to take a closer look at the cutting edge research undertaken at the University in a variety of disciplines.

The first Free Humanities Seminar ‘Science, Sex and the Meaning of Being Human’, take place on January 23 at 7.15pm at the Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning.
