Mr Carl Morris

Research Biography
Carl’s research focuses on British Muslim music-making and cultural belonging in the UK, with specific emphasis on ‘Islamically-conscious’ music – from hip hop to the burgeoning nasheed (religious songs) industry. After a year of intensive fieldwork involving interviews, a large online survey and ethnography at events across the country, Carl is currently using his data to produce a doctoral thesis. Additional research interests include a focus on Muslims and new media.
