Saleem Kidwai OBE, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Wales, has become the first Muslim to receive an Honorary Fellowship from Cardiff University. The fellowship was awarded for his outstanding achievements in promoting understanding between faiths in Wales.
Saleem Kidwai is a qualified accountant and works in many different organisations in Wales, including the Association of Muslim Proffessionals and the Asian Cultural Association and is also an non-executive director of the Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust. Mr Kidwai has also previously received an OBE.
The award ceremony took place at St. David's Hall, where he was presented with the fellowship by Lord Neil Kinnock, President of Cardiff University. We must make a stand together for peace, understanding, compassion and justice. We must welcome religious diversity".
