Research in Early Modern History

The History department has research strengths in Early Modern History of Britain and Wales, and attracts a significant number of postgraduate students in this field.
Current research focuses in particular on crime, violence and gender; the Early Modern body; witchcraft; popular Royalism; the English Civil War and Republic; gentry politics and culture; parliament and legislation; and Wales within the Early Modern British state.
