The Glamorgan Building

The School of Social Sciences is situated in the historic Glamorgan Building in Cardiff's prestigious Civic Centre, and offers an outstanding research and teaching environment.

Cathays Park

The Glamorgan Building was acquired by the University in 1997 and was previously home to the Glamorgan County Council Offices. The building houses high quality function rooms in the form of the former Council Chamber and Committee Rooms. Overlooking Alexandra Gardens and Cathays Park, the School is within a few minutes walk from Cardiff City Centre, Bute Park and the main university buildings.

 

A number of research centres have dedicated buildings on Park Place and Museum Place. The Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research, Data and Methods (WISERD) based in 46 Park Place, Seafarers International Research Centre (SIRC) based in 52 Park Place and Cardiff Work Environment Research Centre (CWERC) based in 59 Park Place. Cardiff Institute for Society and Health (CISHE), The Centre for the Development and Evaluation of Complex Interventions for Public Health Improvement (DECIPHer) and the Universities Police Science Institute (UPSI) are based at 1-3 Museum Place, and the ESRC Centre for Economic and Social Aspects of Genomics (CESAGen) are based in 6 Museum Place.
